gravel. This is why the South Carolina Cockfighting Team defeated the North Carolina Wolves 66-57 in front of the hostile Reynolds Colesium crowd in an early matchup between the top five teams on Tuesday night.

South Carolina separated with a 6-0 score, and then North Carolina star center Elisa Cunane fouled for the first time in less than 90 seconds of the game. Wolfpack settled down, narrowing Gamecocks' lead to 8-6, and then another South Carolina burst put the score at 12-6 on the first break.

Raina Perez knocked down a three-pointer and narrowed Gamecocks' lead to 12-9, and then South Carolina responded by extending the lead to 7 at 16-9. Perez made another layup before the 9th point buzzer in this quarter and rewritten the score to 16-11 during the quarter break.

South Carolina answers every punch of Wolfpack with a basket. With 2 minutes and 25 seconds left in the quarter, Amihere's Gamecocks basket changed the score to 41-36. Another Amihere basket raised South Carolina's lead to 45-36, and then Brown Turner added three more batting times. Before the end of the game, the cockfighting team made two free throws. At the end of the third quarter, the cockfighting team led 47-39.

Zia Cook made two free throws and then added a corner three-pointer with 7:25 left to give South Carolina a 51-41 lead. Gamecocks continued to exert pressure and extended the lead to 55-41 at 4:52 with a score of 8-0. The two teams continued to exchange baskets with South Carolina, responding to every basket in North Carolina-with 3:33 left in the game, South Carolina won 59-46.

Kayla Jones answered the call and narrowed Gamecocks' lead to 59-51 with a score of 5-0, with 2:45 remaining. North Carolina returned empty-handed twice, and then South Carolina made two free throws to rewrite the score to 61-51. South Carolina, which was connected by North Carolina at the free throw line, will not be able to take the lead, and the final score is 66-57.

Brown Turner and Perez led all scorers with 18 points. Cook led South Carolina with 17 points, and Henderson followed closely with 14 points.

Gamecocks's game shooting rate is 49%, while Wolfpack's shooting rate is only 41%. South Carolina doubled North Carolina State's free throw percentage with a score of 13-19, while the Wolves scored only 4-6. Neither team has shot from beyond the three-point line, and North Carolina State University leads Gamecocks by 28%, accounting for only 25%.
